The introductory course is a single unit with two brief classes that alternate weekly. Designed to help first timers and beginners learn basic steps, concepts, and moves so that they can start dancing their first night with confidence.
Class 1: Basic Concepts
This class covers a basic step of country swing dancing and foundational moves for further development, as well as basic principles of leading, following, framing, and structuring a social dance.
Class 2: Basic Repertoire
This class covers a variety of common simple moves and combinations that you can find on almost any country swing dance floor. While only a handful of moves are taught each night, a list of over 50 simple and classic moves are contained in the syllabus. At the completion of this class students can expect to be able to fill an entire song with a few flashy moves while they develop their speed and skill in dancing.
Optional Classes for Leads and Follows
Throughout the night, our instructors stay on the floor to work one-on-one with new dancers, presenting two optional classes: one for leads, and one for follows. These short classes are danced with the instructor taking 2-3 songs to complete, and are geared to providing individual feedback to build confidence and basic technique.
